Enjoy an exciting adventure vacation in Belize with this fabulous package that includes a lovely river boat tour, a hike through one of the country’s most pristine nature preserves, and the chance to explore an ancient Maya metropolis deep within the jungle.
You’ll start off your vacation with four nights at the stunning Black Orchid Resort. The eco-friendly luxury lodge is just a short trip from the airport, and you’ll be welcomed upon your arrival at the resort with a friendly smile and complimentary cocktail.
Once you’ve dropped off your bags, the fun begins right away with a ride on a boat as you cruise up the Belize River. On following days, you’ll get a chance to see more than 250 species of birds at the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, explore the ancient Maya ruins of Lamanai (Mayan for “Submerged Crocodile”), a city inhabited for more than 3,000 years, before capping off your vacation with a tranquil early morning cruise on the river.

Day 1 – Arrival
Late Evening Boat Tour On The Belize Old River
Air-Conditioned Van transport from Belize International Airport to Black Orchid Resort. Unlike many jungle resorts there is NO long bumpy ride to get here; the road is paved right up to the entrance. You can relax by our pool and enjoy your Free Welcome Cocktail to unwind from your travels.
In the evening embark the boat and enjoy tranquility of the river meandering through the jungle. Our tour guide will point out the birds, iguanas, crocodiles and other creatures that inhabit the Belize River.

Day 2 – Full Day Tour
Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary
It is impossible not to be impressed by the abundance of birdlife in the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary. With over 250 resident or migratory exotic neotropical birds close by, you are bound to add to your personal bird lists and have the opportunity to take many wonderful photos. (Not a birder? Well, be careful, you may become one after the tour!).

Day 3 – Full Day Tour
Lamanai Maya Site
On the way to Lamanai a scenic boat ride up the New River provides a great opportunity for wildlife spotting. Lamanai, meaning “Submerged Crocodile” in Mayan, is cradled on the shores of the New River Lagoon and is thought to be the largest Mayan ceremonial site in the region. It boasts over 800 structures deep in the lush jungle that were occupied as early as 1500 B.C.
The onsite museum has precious artifacts on display portraying over 2000 years of Mayan History. You will get to marvel at panoramic views of the rainforest and lagoon from atop the High Temple.

Day 4 – Early Morning Boat Tour On The Belize Old River
Another opportunity to see the wildlife in the river and in the surrounding rainforest. In the afternoon you can enjoy natural ambience of our resort – swim in the pool, take a bicycle for a ride, lay down in a hammock, or during this time you may like to schedule an additional tour (cost not included in package).

Day 5 – Departure
You’ll enjoy breakfast with your favorite drink, and then be transferred from Black Orchid Resort to the Belize International Airport in our air conditioned van.
